Exposed to the construction industry at an early age, Jerid’s first job was on a construction site at age 15. Advancing from a laborer to a framer, his enthusiasm continued as did his interest in structures and how they were built. After graduating High School, Jerid moved to San Diego, acquired his contractor’s license and began his first business venture as Southwest Building Contractors, Inc. in San Diego. After spending many years as a contractor, Jerid’s fascination of structures continued; eventually leading to a certification course in AutoCAD. A couple of years later, Jerid opened West Coast Design, Inc. where he drafted plans for various types of structures. Working with structural engineers and architects on a daily basis, he then became intrigued with the concepts behind structural engineering. Jerid later closed West Coast Design, Inc. and began a journey towards achieving a B.S. in Civil Engineering at San Diego State University. Following graduation and working with numerous architects and engineers, Jerid opened West Coast Design, LLC as a structural consulting firm. Now, with over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, Jerid possesses a full understanding of structures and their assembly - ranging from building structures to engineering them - eliminating costly issues during the construction phase.
From adolescence, the pursuit of Design has driven all of Elizabeth’s decisions, pushing her to enroll in industrial design classes while in junior high school, and to ultimately complete her BFA in Interior Design at the University of Houston’s Honor’s College, where she graduated with highest distinctions - University Honor’s, Honor’s in Interior Design, Magna Cum Laude. Out of a graduating class of thousands of students, Elizabeth was 1 of 12 that achieved this level of honors.
With 20 years of CAD/ Drafting exposure, 12 years of commercial and residential Interior Design experience, including 2 years as an Executive Associate of a local design firm, and 8 years of Project Management, she is well-versed in all aspects of the built environment. Over the years Elizabeth has honed her craft and her execution of all things Design related, and now as Principal Interior Designer at West Coast Design, she is sharing her in-depth knowledge, experience, and passion for Design and Building Code Compliance with all of her clients. Elizabeth’s Design Methodology is “Listening intently to the client’s goals, ideas, budget, and vision; and striving to make the project the best that it can be, while still reflecting the client’s personality and meeting all the project’s constraints.” Good design isn’t about “educating the client about what good design is”. Design is subjective, and each client brings a different idea to the table. Good design is about helping the client make the best choice in each circumstance; ultimately, the space needs to reflect and suit the client and the given conditions.
